Is this medical advice?
No. We measure what's in a vial. We can't tell you whether to use it, how much to use, or whether it's safe for your body. We aren't clinicians. If you're unsure, please talk to a provider you trust.
How anonymous is it?
We never ask for your legal name, and we only need an email if you want to be notified. You can mail your sample from any mailbox without a return address. In the lab, samples are identified only by their code. If we receive a legal request, we can only hand over what we have, and we keep very little.
Is it really free?
Yes. Testing is always free for the person sending the sample. Each test costs us about $60 in materials, which is covered by community donations. If you're able to donate, it helps us test more samples, but it's never required.
How much should I send?
About 0.5 mL if it's a liquid, or 50 mg if it's a powder, in a small, clean vial that seals.
Can I test something that isn't on the list?
Get in touch first. If we already have a validated method, we can usually add a compound within a week or two. We focus on HRT-related compounds: estrogens, anti-androgens, progestogens, and testosterone esters. We only test compounds we have the equipment to test accurately.
What do you do with my sample after it's tested?
We keep it for 90 days at 4 °C in case it needs to be re-tested, then dispose of it by incineration. It's only ever labeled with the sample code.
How long does it take?
Two to four weeks from when we receive it. Longer if something unexpected shows up and we want to double-check. We'll post an update to your result page either way.
Can DIY producers submit samples?
Yes, and we encourage it. Producers who test their batches and publish the results help build trust in the community. The process, privacy, and cost ($0) are the same as for individuals.
What methods do you use?
We use HPLC-UV to measure concentration and check identity against a reference standard. We validate methods against commercial reference standards and keep blanks and controls for every run. We're happy to share validation data on request.
